There is no gas at this property, so it runs on an electric boiler. The old one was on its way out and the cupboard behind it was a mess of flexible pipe and old fittings, which makes any future repair a nightmare. I replaced the lot.
A narrow electric boiler surrounded by plastic pipe running in every direction, joints hidden behind cables and no proper isolation. Nothing was labelled and there was no way to work on one part without draining the lot.
The old unit and the old pipework came out completely. The new boiler went on the dry wall where it can be reached, fed with new copper clipped in straight runs, with isolation valves on each leg so future work is a five minute job.
A magnetic filter went on the return, the expansion vessel was checked and re-charged, and the system was flushed and dosed with inhibitor before firing up.
Electrical supply through a proper isolator, controls set with the customer and the system left running and pressure tested. Same cupboard, completely different standard of work.
