Boiler servicing and repairs
An annual service keeps your warranty valid and catches the small faults before they leave you without heating in January. I service and repair all the common makes across Newcastle and Northumberland.
What a service includes
I strip and clean the burner and heat exchanger, check the seals, test the gas pressure, run a combustion analysis on the flue gases and check every safety device is doing its job.
You get a written report telling you what I found and what to keep an eye on. If something is on its way out, I say so early rather than letting it fail on the coldest week of the year.
Boiler repairs and fault codes
Most call outs are a handful of the same faults: low pressure, a locked out ignition, a frozen condensate pipe in winter, or a failed diverter valve leaving you with heating but no hot water.
I diagnose the fault before I sell you parts. If a repair is not economic on an old boiler, I will tell you straight and price a replacement instead.
Common questions
- How much does a boiler service cost?
- A service is £80 for a boiler that is a few years old, and £120 for an older boiler that is out of warranty. Sometimes extra materials such as burner seals are needed, because some manufacturers want the seal changed every time the burner is opened. If a repair is needed on top, I price it separately and you decide before I order any parts.
- How often should a boiler be serviced?
- Once a year. Nearly every manufacturer warranty requires it, and it is the cheapest way to avoid a breakdown mid winter.
- Do you service oil, LPG and electric boilers?
- I service gas and LPG boilers and electric boilers. I do not carry out oil boiler servicing, so if you are on oil I will point you at someone OFTEC registered rather than take the job on.
- Do you issue landlord gas safety certificates?
- Yes. I carry out landlord checks on boilers, cookers and fires and issue the CP12 certificate the same day.
