Julie's kitchen in Newcastle was stripped right back for a full refit, which is the perfect time to get the pipework right. I did the complete first fix: new hot and cold runs, waste for the sink and appliances, and moved a radiator onto a better wall. While the floor was up I found a leaking gas pipe, so that was repaired and tested at the same time.
With the kitchen stripped to bare walls and the floor up, I ran new hot and cold pipework to the sink, appliances and boiler position, and set out the waste runs so everything lands exactly where the new units need it.
Getting this stage right matters. Once the floor is down and the units are in, moving a pipe means taking the kitchen apart again, so every run is clipped, labelled and pressure tested before anything gets covered up.
The existing radiator sat on a wall that was about to become units, so I moved it to a better position and extended the flow and return to suit. The new pipework is run neatly along the wall and will be hidden once the kitchen is fitted.
While the floor was up I found a gas pipe that had been leaking. It is the sort of thing you only catch when a room is opened up like this, and it is exactly why it is worth having a Gas Safe engineer on site during a strip out.
I repaired the leaking section in new copper, then tested the whole run before the floor went back down, so Julie knows the gas side of the kitchen is sound as well as the water.
